This story describes the projects only as CCOP lists them.
Timing
The earliest opening in the group is drainage system restoration (07-375204) on Nov. 3. Two open on Nov. 10: drainage system installation and repair (07-361904) and the infiltration areas, capture housing and bioswales job (07-379304). The Ventura County treatment BMP project (07-367604) opens Nov. 19, the GSRD and irrigation project (07-379904) on Dec. 8, and drainage system replacement (07-375404) on Dec. 9.
The licenses
Sanitation System (C-42) appears on 6 of the 6 projects. Landscaping (C-27) appears on 4, reflecting planting and irrigation inside infiltration and bioswale areas. Earthwork and Paving (C-12) appears on 4. All 6 list a General Engineering (A) license.
For the A-licensed prime, that means a project team that may combine drainage, landscaping and paving subcontractors. This site's directory, built from the CSLB License Master file, lists 45,450 licensed firms with Los Angeles County addresses and 5,978 in Ventura County. Statewide, 851 businesses in the directory hold a C-42 license and 11,921 hold a C-27. In Los Angeles County, 152 firms hold C-42 and 1,964 hold an A license.
Other District 7 work on the list
The district's other Los Angeles County listings include traffic signal modifications (07-381404, Nov. 17), landscape visual and aesthetic improvements (07-502204, Nov. 5), hazardous waste disposal services for Los Angeles and Ventura counties (07A6520, Nov. 5), demolition and clearance services (07A6531, Nov. 5), landscape irrigation repair and maintenance (07A6532, Nov. 10), and boiler inspection and maintenance restricted to certified SB or DVBE firms (07A6539, Nov. 13).
How to bid
Contractors need a CSLB license in the right class for the work, and contractors on public works must register with the Department of Industrial Relations. Caltrans' contracting guide says electronic bidding for major construction contracts is available through Bid Express. See our Caltrans bidding guide and the CSLB license guide.
Getting paid on public work
Subcontractors on these jobs have two protections under California's Civil Code. A stop payment notice on a public work must be given no later than 30 days after a notice of completion or cessation is recorded, or 90 days after completion if none is recorded (搂 9356). And on public works over $25,000, the prime must post a payment bond (搂 9550), with an action on the bond due within six months after the period for giving a stop payment notice ends (搂 9558). Our lien and stop payment guide has the details.
The full list is on our bids page, and the Los Angeles County hub shows local firms and projects.
